( Sweater Belt Skirt Clutch Shoes )
It’s getting chilly here in London, and that makes me want to bring out the sweaters! Alexander McQueen has come out with some classics for his Autumn/Winter 2011 line. Paired with some fabulous Wolford Velvet de Luxe 50 tights, these versatile pieces are perfect for work and for play! The gorgeous leopard print brings in some much needed fun and gives that little bit of edge. How about throwin in n a large brimmed, floppy, felt hat?

Nicole Dinardo isn’t your typical every day artist – she specialises in airbrushing! She customises everything from purses, shoes, skateboards, guitars, to [notoriously] … Kitchen Aid mixers! My favorite is the orange mixer with flowers, and I’ll be sure to track one down once I have my very own kitchen!
[ nationwide at Electra Bike or in the UK at Electra Bikes ... street sign ]
If you’re like me - reliant on public transport (yay London…) – there’s nothing better than hopping on your bike and riding where you please! ELECTRA designs utterly stylish Amsterdam bicycles. They’re gorgeous and you can ride them knowing you’re doing your part for the environment! These are my favorites, using the designs or Alexander Girard.
How fabulous are these? These teacups are a definite must have with illustrations by designer Esther Horchner. You can also find bowls with the same design and a teapot that compliments this set!
This is one of my favorite shoots by Annie Leibovitz inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. It was published in Vogue magazine in December 2003.

Who says you can’t look pretty in the kitchen? Aprons are no longer just the plain, straight, colourless sheets of fabric that hang off you, they’re as much a fashion statement as that fab dress in your closet. They look good and they’re useful too!
Handy with the sewing machine? Aprons are easy [and fun!] to make, plus you can customise them to your liking! Tip Junkie has some great free patterns here.
Every girl dreams of her wedding day. Once you’re engaged, you finally get to put all those ideas on paper (and go shopping for wedding dresses – this time for real)! So here it is (the one on the left) – the dream dress: Seville from designer Ian Stuart.
I fell in love with Ian Stuart‘s dresses from the moment I first saw them in Cosmopolitan Bride (believe me – once you’re engaged, it’s inevitable: you make a beeline to the magazine isle)! Shortly after, I mustered up the courage to book an appointment (oh yes, and appointment) at London Bride Couture to try on some dresses. The lady who took care of me was incredibly helpful, and even though she knew it was my first [serious] look around in a bridal shop, took her time to make my experience enjoyable. The dress I originally was after (Mokalita) was unfortunately not in shops anymore, so I was selected some different designs to try on, including Seville. As it often goes, many brides are pleasantly surprised at which dress becomes their ‘dream dress’ in the end - I definitely was! Once you stand in front of that mirror, it’s suddenly very real. The dress, the heavenly cathedral veil… it became the ultimate fantasy : )
And that is the story of how I found my dream dress!
I came across this website [Urban Dicionary] a while back, and just remembered about it. Overall, it’s thoroughly amusing, especially when looking up the meaning of your name!
That’s the first definition that pops up, but my favorite is:
I’d like to think it’s quite precise – it’s definitely got the ‘small’ (I’m only 5’3″) and ‘acting’ (I’m a trained actress) characteristics bang on! : )
What’s your definition?
I’ve never been a huge fan of the fad that started a few years ago with charm/bead bracelets (as much as I wanted to). On our recent voyage back to Canada this summer – on a joyous trip to the greatest mall: West Edmonton Mall with my lovely friends – my birthday present was purchased. Lo and behold, it was a Thomas Sabo bracelet with charms : ) Of course, I was there to try on the bracelet (purely for size) and then they ‘secretly’ went off to buy it. It is one of the most special gifts I have ever received, and reminds me of them every day (which I definitely need, being so far away)! Paula (the best friend) also has one – l♥ve the idea of exchanging charms! I feel as giddy as a 10 year old : )
Last year, I became the lucky owner of my first major artwork – a painting by Neal Turner! I fell in love with it the moment I saw it, and said to my fabulous fiancé:
-I must have it!
Now, I’m not one of those gals who she sees something then goes out and buys it. But I knew this was going to be a once in a lifetime chance (as it generally goes with paintings). So I splurged, and I don’t regret it – it’s hanging proudly on my wall : )
A little bit about the artist? Neal Turner is an artist from the US of A, who moved to France in the 90′s. His use of vibrant colors and mixed media makes his paintings contemporary and fun. He draws inspiration from the Parisian surroundings and interesting subjects. You can see some more of his work here or on his Facebook page here.
Can’t wait to to own nr. 2! An Eiffel Tower and a still life are a definite must!
After days of procrastination (days = years), I have finally pulled myself together to start a blog! What will this blog be about you say? Hmmm…
❤ Life as a foreigner (ie. Canadian) in London . . .
❤ Random fashion tidbits . . .
❤ Fabulous foods in and around as well as some of my very own concoctions!
❤ Cool things: paintings / photos, furniture, books . . .
❤ T r a v e l :)
❤ Engaged life – yes, I’m engaged! I’ve been ‘planning’ our wedding since January 2010 – oh boy, will this be fun – our plans change every month!
❤ And more recently, attempting to re-decorate our tiny bit of space (ie. our room) in our tiny shared flat here in good ol’ W12 (lesson #1 – once you’ve lived in London for a while, you begin referring to different areas in post code terms) . . .
All this, and a whole lot more – stories, photos, musings, quotations, recommendations, maps … etc, etc, etc! Lucky you!
